Marvel recently announced that they would be bringing back the Fantastic Four comics to Earth-616. During the battle of the MCU vs non-Marvel MCU properties, not many people noticed that some of their favorite comic book series were beginning to disappear. Another big slap to the Fox and Sony owned properties was the removal of toys unless they were brought back to Marvel, just as Spider-Man magically appeared on shelves after the Civil War announcement.
Why is this important? Well, years ago, Marvel released animated films for The Avengers, Iron Man, Dr Strange, and other characters who are now part of the MCU. It seemed as if they were testing the waters with these properties. They did the same with comic book series, even bringing Guardians of the Galaxy back to comic book shelves a couple years before announcing the film.
And now, Marvel has announced bringing the Fantastic Four, the team that saved Marvel from bankruptcy, back to comic book store shelves. This is all happening in the midst of the Fox and Marvel deal that most expect will lead to a Sony and Marvel type deal with Fox. Many are also speculating that this would allow the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four to be brought back to the MCU and help make up for the recent Fantastic Four film.
Next, was the Russo brothers announcing they would love to do a Secret Wars film. And with the secrecy of the second Avengers: Infinity War film, it would be easy to speculate that using the gauntlet and reality stone could bring worlds together just as they did with the Ultimate and 616 universe in the comics.
Wouldn’t we all love to see Logan and the Fantastic Four join ranks with the Avengers for a final battle against Thanos? Especially if they did a cast similar to what Digital Artist Boss Logic created using John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic, Emily Blunt as Sue Storm, Zac Efron as the Human Torch, and John Cena as the Thing.
